Hartland Whole House Remodel

This Hartland whole-home remodel transformed an existing home into a warm, functional, and modern space tailored to the needs of a growing family. Completed in multiple carefully planned phases, the project refreshed nearly every level of the home while maintaining the original footprint, proving that thoughtful design and strategic updates can completely change how a home looks, feels, and functions.

At the heart of the remodel is the reimagined kitchen, designed to improve flow, functionality, and everyday gathering. The large maple island, finished in a rich black walnut stain, anchors the space and provides generous seating, prep space, and storage. The removal of an outdated peninsula dramatically improved traffic flow throughout the home, creating a more open and inviting layout for entertaining and family life.

Custom cabinetry and built-in storage solutions were thoughtfully integrated throughout the kitchen. A large pantry wall, appliance garage, microwave drawer, floating shelves, and carefully planned working zones help keep the space organized and efficient while maintaining a clean, sophisticated look. The subtle herringbone backsplash, warm metallic accents, and custom wood hood add texture and timeless character to the design.

Adjacent living spaces were refreshed to complement the kitchen remodel and create a cohesive feel throughout the main floor. The family room fireplace was updated with stacked stone tile, a custom Amish mantel, and new finishes that modernize the space while keeping it warm and welcoming. New carpeting, updated stair railings, and refinished details throughout the home help tie each remodeled area together.

The laundry and mudroom area was completely transformed to better support the family’s daily routines. Custom cabinetry in a rich green finish, a built-in bench with hooks, tall storage cabinets, and a stacked washer and dryer configuration maximize functionality while maintaining the elevated look carried throughout the home. Heated tile flooring adds comfort and practicality to one of the home’s hardest-working spaces.

Upstairs, both bathrooms received dramatic updates. The primary bathroom was fully reconfigured to create a spacious walk-in tile shower with custom vertical tilework, quartz accents, brushed brass fixtures, and heated flooring for added comfort. A private water closet and expanded linen storage further improved functionality while maintaining a clean, luxurious aesthetic.

The secondary bathroom introduces a playful pop of aqua blue tile paired with brushed nickel fixtures and heated floors, creating a bright and welcoming space designed specifically with the family’s children in mind.

The lower level was also refreshed to better support entertaining and recreation. A once-basic bathroom was updated with the addition of a shower, while durable luxury vinyl plank flooring modernized the rec area. The homeowners later expanded the project to include a custom wet bar, transforming previously unused space into a destination for hosting family and friends.

Throughout every phase of the remodel, GMH Construction focused on creating a home that feels cohesive, functional, and personalized to the homeowners’ lifestyle. From the thoughtful layout improvements to the carefully selected finishes and custom storage solutions, this Hartland whole-home remodel demonstrates how strategic updates can completely transform a home without requiring a major addition or structural overhaul.
